Keep the acronym BRAT in mind; bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. These are all bland foods that lack the spices and other ingredients that could re-irritate your digestive system and cause a relapse. While they are bland, they are also rich in the important nutrients that will help to boost your system so that you can recover faster. As your system gets stronger, you can add other foods like oatmeal and crackers to your diet.

Gradually you will be able to return to a normal diet with the addition of soft cooked eggs, stewed fruits, and cooked vegetables until you begin to feel your normal self again. however, you should avoid any type of fried, greasy, or spicy foods or eating anything raw or caffeinated until your system has had a chance to fully recover.

Experiencing food poisoning may feel like the end of the world but in most cases, it will run its course in just a few days. The key is to gradually reintroduce your regular diet back into your system so that you can get stronger.
